Iranian film ‘7:05 P.M.’ to screen in Iran after eight-year hiatus

The feature film ‘7:05 P.M.’ by Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Mehdi Asgarpour will be screened in Iran after an eight-year hiatus.

The 2009 production which was made in France is based on a script written by screenwriter Farhad Tohidi and the movie will be shown in a limited number of screens in the Art and Experience cinematic group in Iran starting on February 22.

The select screening is aimed at helping serve the interests of particular social strata to connect them to new, modern experimental and artistic films.

‘7:05 P.M.’ tells the story of three immigrant women of different ages living in France, each of whom face a variety of questions about life and death as well as love and betrayal. The three women are also on the verge of mental collapse and suicide.

The cast includes Reza Kianian, Reza Attaran, Isabelle Pasco, Linda Borini, Virginie Boudot, Christopher Masson, Melina Morse and Tom Novembre.

In the 8-year period since its production, ‘7:05 P.M.’ has been screened at several foreign events. The movie is expected to be warmly welcomed by viewers, considering its theme dealing with ongoing issues in the world, and the performances of popular Iranian actors such as Kianian and Attaran.

Asgarpour made his first film, ‘Flying to the Limit’, in 1990, in which he was the director, producer and screenwriter.

His last film ‘We Have a Guest’ was screened at the Busan Film Festival in South Korea, Indonesian Balinale Filmfest and 7th Jaipur International Film Festival in India.

During his 30 years of activity in cinema, Asgarpour has also served as the head of House of Cinema, managing director of Farabi Cinema Foundation and secretary of the 20th and 21st Fajr Film Festival among others.
